05 Aug Amazing Athletes was featured in Entrepreneur Magazine!
Word about Amazing Athletes’ preschool sports and fitness program is spreading among the business community thanks to the program’s recent feature in the June 2013 edition of Entrepreneur Magazine.
In the article, “Creating Something Amazing: Teaching Children Life Skills Through Sports,” the magazine touts the program’s franchise expansion and the company’s dedicated mission to promote healthy habits among young children. The article traces the history of the program since its inception in 2003 and explains how it flourished into one of the nation’s leading fitness providers among preschool-aged youth.
When they began thinking about starting their own family, owners Dr. Janee and Glen Henderson did extensive research on early childhood development and education. What they found was a void in children’s active-learning environments and the need for a structured preschool-aged youth athletic program.
“Glen and I could see the lack of athletic opportunities and physical development programs for young children,” Dr. Janee Henderson said. “We wanted to make sure we were part of the solution and that was only possible by taking the risk and putting everything we had into it.”
Since its modest launch in just a handful of Orange County preschools 10 years ago, Amazing Athletes has expanded into an extensive network of 75 franchise units across the nation.
Amazing Athletes’ year-round sports-based youth fitness program helps children improve hand-eye coordination, flexibility, cardiovascular health, muscle tone, balance, speed and agility, while also achieving milestones in motor development for children of all ages and abilities. The program teaches the correct fundamentals of nine different sports, including baseball, golf, hockey, volleyball, tennis, football, lacrosse, soccer and basketball. The activities within each class teach more than just the basics of each sport, but the program also teaches children fundamental life skills through sport. The classes are taught by trained coaches at myriad venues – from schools to churches to childcare centers and preschools – where young children ages 12 and under learn sportsmanship, teamwork, coordination and other key sports principles.
During each Amazing Athletes lesson, trained coaches utilize age-appropriate equipment to teach children the rules and mechanics of the nine sports. The classes allow each child to progress at his or her own pace in a non-competitive, learning-based environment that encourages patience, emphasizes teamwork and promotes self-confidence at an early age.
The program’s feature in Entrepreneur Magazine will continue to help spread the word about the franchise’s mission to introduce healthy habits, exercise and sports fundamentals in children at a young age.
Today, Amazing Athletes is no stranger to the spotlight. The franchise corporation has graced the pages of Entrepreneur Magazine as one of the magazine’s Franchise 500 as well as one of the top low-cost startups in the nation. Amazing Athletes has also been featured in other national publications, such as in GI Jobs Magazine for its ranking as one of the top military-friendly franchises in the nation.
“It is very exciting to get the word out about what we do and the importance of getting every child across the country involved,” said Henderson.
