08 Jan Owasso Family Fun Fair connects the local community and promotes kids fitness in a free, fun event!
The 6th semi-annual Owasso Family Fun Fair on August 16 brings the Owasso community together for some free kid-friendly activities and games, live entertainment, local vendor booths and much more!
OWASSO, OK – The semi-annual Owasso Family Fun Fair is back again on August 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a free, family-friendly event that brings together local merchants, neighbors, families and friends for four hours of fun!
Hundreds of community members will gather at Rayola Park to learn more about the different activities, businesses and organizations available in their community, as well as entertain the whole family with any of the free fun-filled activities offered at the event, including bounce houses, face painting, obstacle courses, live music, dance performances, karate performances, storytime, crafts, soccer drills and much more!
Owasso Family Fun Fair is proud to announce their newest supporter, Bailey Medical Center — host of the Strong Kids Triathlon, which starts at 8 a.m. and concludes in Rayola Park right in the middle of the fairgrounds this year.
“We have partnered with the triathlon because we thought it would be a great opportunity to show support for both community-based events,” said Amazing Athletes of Eastern Oklahoma owner, Michael Amberg. “The Fun Fair is helping to promote activities, businesses and organizations in the community, and the triathlon is helping to promote kids fitness (something very near and dear to me personally). We feel that combining the events will boost attendance and awareness of all the great things our community has to offer.”
Families are encouraged to cheer on their kids, siblings and friends at the finish line and enjoy the variety of activities that the Fun Fair has to offer.
The popular community-wide event was founded three years ago by Amazing Athletes of Eastern Oklahoma owner, Michael Amberg, to showcase all the great businesses, activities and organizations in the Owasso area. As a small business owner himself, Amberg realized the importance of community networking and was inspired to launch the event in order to let community members know about all the wonderful opportunities available to them right in their own backyards.
“The reason I started the Owasso Family Fun Fair was to help get the word out about different activities in the community. In Owasso, businesses and organizations are no longer allowed to pass out flyers in the public schools, and that used to be a major avenue for a lot of people to get the word out about what they can offer the community,” he said. “This event is great for local vendors because it’s a free way to get the word out about their businesses and organizations.”
The event is also a win-win for parents and kids as well.
“Parents can find out about all sorts of activities for their kids during the summer, and they can also find out about local businesses that they may not have otherwise heard of. Plus, they get to do something together as a family that is totally free,” he said. “It’s great for kids because they have a blast at all the vendors’ booths doing all the fun activities – it keeps them busy for hours.”
The structure of the event is set up so each vendor provides a child-friendly activity and an optional raffle prize. While parents learn about the local merchant or organization, children have fun engaging in fun activities like sports obstacle courses, games and crafts.
“Upon arrival, each child attending the fair gets a Bingo sheet with all the vendors’ names on them. Then they go to each vendor and do the activity, get their Bingo sheet signed on the appropriate square, and once the entire sheet is filled out they turn it in for a raffle ticket,” explained Amberg.
Raffle prizes are given away every 20 minutes throughout the duration of the fair, making each child’s chances of winning a prize a good bet! This year, raffle prizes include a free month of Amazing Athletes classes, free dance lessons, gift cards to local businesses, art baskets, books, Avon and Mary Kay beauty baskets, science kits, tickets to the Owasso Community Theatre, and much more.
With so much free family fun packed into this single afternoon event, you won’t want to miss it! Vendor booths are available until Aug. 13. Please contact Michael Amberg at michaelamberg2001@gmail.com to sign up for your free vendor booth and let him know what children’s activity you will offer.
There is no entrance fee or tickets, and all activities at the Owasso Family Fun Fair are completely free! Simply show up anytime from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Rayola Park to take part in all the fun.
