08 Jan Team Amazing Athletes Participates in Laps for Little Ones to Raise Funds for Special Needs Students

The 36th annual Laps for Little Ones event on Oct. 11 brings the Tulsa community together

to help raise funds for the children with special needs at the Little Light House

TULSA, OK – Amazing Athletes of Eastern Oklahoma owner Michael Amberg and his team are raising awareness and funds for the 36^th annual Laps for Little Ones fun run and alumni carnival on Oct. 11, from 9-10 a.m. at Cascia Hall with an alumni carnival following shortly thereafter.

Laps for Little Ones is a one-hour fundraising walk/run event with the aim of raising much-needed funds for the students at the Little Light House. Funds raised at the event will ensure Little Light House students continue to receive comprehensive, tuition-free special education and therapeutic services — including speech, physical, occupational and low vision therapy — at the preschool.

Each month, Michael Amberg and his team of coaches pool their time and resources to teach Amazing Athletes’ sports enrichment program to these young children with special needs at The Little Light House — an all-volunteer child development center that is dedicated to improving the lives of children with special needs.

“At Amazing Athletes, we hold a special place in our hearts for the Little Light House, and we absolutely love each and every child there,” said Amberg. “Our lives are forever changed in numerous, fantastic ways through our work with these awesome kids.”

More than 250 runners from the Tulsa community registered for the fun run and raised more than $160,000 last year, and the nonprofit hopes to do even better this year. To aid in achieving that goal, Amazing Athletes of Eastern Oklahoma owner, Michael Amberg, has decided to get off the sidelines and get in on the action this year.

“We always participate in the carnival after the event from 10 a.m. to noon, but this year, we’re getting in on the action,” he said. “I’m going to be competing to see if I can get the most laps in my age group, which will be a tall order, but with your help and proper motivation, I can do it. The more you donate, the faster I will run!”

Update: Amberg was able to reach his fundraising goal and ran 32 laps – enough to place first in his age group and second overall. Little Light house supposed their fundraising goal!
