San Diego

Our District Manager, Coach Irene, was born in San Diego, CA but raised in Ramona, CA where she resided up until 2014. Irene has two boys; a 11 and a 13 year old. She is a full time soccer mom aside from being an Amazing Athletes coach. Coach Irene’s entire family is passionate about soccer. On her free time, Irene enjoys hiking, running, going to the beach and enjoying outdoor soccer games with her boys. Being and keeping her family physically active has always been important to her.
She’s worked in a child development environment for the past 12 years as an associate teacher. She enjoyed working with children at the centers, but she is now very grateful to have the opportunity to combine two things she enjoys; working with children and being active. Amazing Athletes promotes physical activity and sport knowledge. She strongly believes that the Amazing Athletes program helps children’s self-esteem, confidence and motivation. Coach Irene was very excited to join the Amazing Athletes team in January 2015 and to have the opportunity to make a difference in children’s life through coaching.
Coach Katelin was born and raised in Fallbrook and now loves living in Carlsbad. Having older siblings, Katelin was always active playing sports with her brothers and sisters. Growing up she played softball, basketball, tennis, flag football, and soccer over the years. In high school, she played volleyball and track and field and always spent time at the gym. In college, Katelin got her degree in Interior Design but soon realized that her passion was in early childhood development and began taking all of the necessary classes to work in the field. After several years of teaching preschool with children ranging from 2-5, she decided she was ready to try something new as long as it was still with preschool aged kiddos. Upon learning about Amazing Athletes, she felt like it was a natural fit for her combining staying active, eating healthy and having fun with children.
Coach Katelin has a wonderful husband who is a fire captain, a 17 year old daughter and 10 year old boy/girl twins, and 2 golden retrievers. Time with her family always comes first and in the summer it usually involves a day at the beach. Most afternoons involve shuttling around between various activities but Katelin always finds time to squeeze in hot yoga classes. In her free time, she loves walking her dogs, hiking, snowboarding with her family, beach camping and doing home renovations where she can learn new skills. She values being part of the Amazing Athletes team by being able to spread the love of sports and a healthy lifestyle to young children.
Coach Erika was born in Mexico but moved to the USA when she was 8 years old. She was raised in San Marcos, California and studied Child Development at Palomar College. She enjoys working with kids and has 3 children of her own ages 15, 7, and 2. Before joining Amazing Athletes she worked as a 2-year teacher, the last 3 years being the lead teacher.
She loves dancing to any type of music, but mainly salsa and Latin music. She likes working out and she loves soccer! She played soccer all middle school and high school years as well as a Sunday league in San Marcos and Escondido. She also played co-ed indoor soccer for five years and volunteered coaching her daughter’s soccer team for a couple of seasons. Her husband and two older daughters both play soccer as well!
She said she loves working with Amazing Athletes because she gets to do what she likes doing most: Working with kids. She also loves that it keeps her active and she get to have fun with the kids. In the future Coach Erika would like to continue working with the combination of kids and sports.
